One of our Humanistic Management Network Members, Paul Harrison, circulated details of a webinar featuring a discussion between a representative from Blueprint* and **Professor Alex Edmans of …..  Professor Edmans has several publications to his name and he was present to discuss some of the findings from his 2020 publication, Grow the Pie: How great companies deliver both purpose and profit;

I felt that this was very much in the spirit of the principles of Humanistic Management Network in the UK, globally and this SIG here.  So I ‘attended’.

Like many practitioners and organisational members, I had long been concerned about the footprint on society which organisations have and felt myself deviating in view somewhat from what I was taught, what is still often taught in the business school and more still, how organisations are operating.

The pandemic has put the livelihood of employees and the sustainability of certain commercial and industrial sectors in jeopardy.  It has certainly focused the public’s attention on how a firm chooses to distribute its resources in the form of remuneration (see for example CIPD 2020 Research Report).

Profit and purpose – in practice

Alex Edmans in conversation with Dee Corrigan discussing the practical challenges businesses face, drawing on Blueprint’s engagements with FTSE 100 companies.
