Your invitation: Come and assess their relevance to you of Pamela’s experiences of writing two books about an approach to her practice as an executive coach which she calls ‘The People Skills Revolution’. This is an open session, and there is no cost for attending. So please feel free to spread the word.
Pamela writes: ‘In 2008, I challenged a client with exceptional people skills to write a book on his experience of successfully navigating his way through the minefield of NHS bureaucracy as a Director of Finance in the NHS. Straight away he countered with a challenge to me to write a book based on my continuum of interpersonal skills approach, which I had developed over 30 years as a training consultant and coach. I had used it with him, with his direct reports and with the other Directors of Finance he had referred to me. He could see the difference that this approach had made in terms of enhancing both their confidence and their skill levels.
After this exchange, I kept on telling everyone that I was ‘going to write a book’, until a close friend said to me “Pam, either write the book, or shut up!”. So I decided to write the book. After years of frustration at my inability to write, I wrote the book in four months. Stumbling upon a publisher, the book became ‘The People Skills Revolution - a step by step approach to developing sophisticated people skills’ (2011) and ‘The People Skills Revolution Handbook’ (2013). email@example.com
Our process: During this typically interactive AMED Writer’s Group meeting, Pamela will share some aspects of her ‘People Skills Revolution approach’, and invite you to assess their relevance to your own aspirations to unlock and/or develop your writing potential. Amongst other issues, we’ll consider confronting your writing blocks, clarifying what you hope to achieve through your writing, sharing your ideas with others in a spirit of critical friendship, writing an ‘elevator pitch’ about your writing, and addressing inhibiting fears of writing success – what’s stopping us? We’ll blend whole and small group work with silent individual reflection, have a refreshment break about half way through, and engage in at least one round of breakout rooms in pairs or trios. Please come prepared to share a writing-related issue that’s on your mind.
