Event Description

Your invitation:  Today, we’re surrounded – and perhaps sometimes immobilised - by unprecedented levels of turmoil, anxiety and confusion. This can be really draining.  So we hope that, over our residential weekend Open Source Thinking (OST) Gathering, we can challenge and support each other creatively to return, refreshed, as recharged advocates and resources for effective action and change.  We want OST2020 to afford us all some much-needed respite, encouragement and renewal.  We are compressing our Gathering into a weekend, to provide a space and respite for busy people.  We’ll start with lunch at 12.30 pm on Friday 30 October, and close at 1.00 pm on Sunday 1 November with a sandwich lunch.  By then, any disruption caused by the corona virus should have been accommodated.  You are welcome to join us.

How we will be together:  This is our 5th annual residential OST Gathering, supported by AMED.  Working together to create a temporary community is at the heart of what we do.  We’ll all share in the preparation and clearing up of our meals (all vegetarian), and in co-creating and co-facilitating our ‘agenda’.  A bonus is that we’ll be able to source fresh produce for our meals from the Bore Place farm - and there is a dishwasher!

Our venue:  Bore Place shares our OST vision of practising living and working sustainably through practical projects, and cooperating with others to share and inspire change.  There are 2 shower rooms, 2 bathrooms and 3 WCs between all the bedrooms over 2 floors. All are shared.

Remaining accommodation: With a maximum capacity of 19 people, we still have 3 x single rooms, each @ £145, and 3 x triple-bedded rooms sharing with others, @ £105 per person who is sharing.  All the contributions include full board and wine with evening meals.

How to get there:  For full details, please click here.

Payment:  If you would like to join us for OST2020, we’ll need a £50 deposit per person by 30th November 2020.  The £balance will need to be paid by 30th January 2021.  Please note that the deposit is non-refundable, as we work on a very tight shoestring.

Next steps:  Please contact Alison @ alisonpia@live.co.uk as soon as you can if you would like to reserve a place for yourself, saying what kind of accommodation you’d prefer. (We’re applying a first come, first served principle). Alison will then let you know how to pay your deposit.  Please, also, feel free to contact Alison or Bob @ bob@amed.org.uk if you’d like to chat first before deciding.  And do circulate this invitation to your friends and other contacts if you think they might be interested. You can also let us know if you would like us to send them an invitation on your behalf.

Please join us if you can, and/or let us have your suggestions and ideas.   We’re looking forward to (re-)engaging with you at Bore Place this Autumn.

With very best wishes from your OST2020 Hosting Team.   Alison, Bob and Andy. www.opensourcethinking.org.uk
