Event Description

(The original source of the Monarch butterfly image is the Bear Springs Blossom website here)

At short notice, we've had to postpone this event.  However, we hope to offer it later, so do watch this space.

Please join us for another stimulating session about ways of giving rein to our imagination through writing.  Our gatherings are characterised by invention, openness and sharing.

Metamorphosis and change

Change, both inner and outer, is always with us, and it can be helpful to recruit the imagination to aid our understanding of how it is happening. For this, metamorphosis is a useful concept.  This workshop will use the traditional metamorphosis metaphor of caterpillar - chrysalis - butterfly to explore how it feels to be in different stages of the metamorphosis process, through  writing - and drawing - our way in. We will reflect on how all this applies to transitions in both our personal and professional lives.

About Alison

Alison is a long-time creative writing tutor with an MA in creative writing for personal development, poetry and short fiction. Her special interest is in the crossover between personal development and the production of powerful writing.  So she has initiated a programme of themed workshops focused on exploration and discovery.  You can find out more about Alison’s work at: https://www.facebook.com/CreativeWritingInRotherhithe.

Cost (payable on arrival):  £12 for full AMED Members; £15 for Networkers and Guests.  This includes light refreshments.

Afterwards, if you can linger, you can continue our conversations just across the road at The Ship pub.

Please let me know by 15 October (earlier if possible) if you're planning to come on 17 October.  It would also be a great help if you could indicate your intentions in the RSVP panel on the right hand side of this Events web page.

Everyone is welcome, so please feel free to spread the word.

Best wishes.  Bob   bob@amed.org.uk

I'm looking forward  to this workshop - will bring coloured pens and paper for you to enjoy - but the main emphasis is on writing in character!
