Recent eO&P 'Wisdom editions' author Barbara Heinzen is in London. . .
In early 2008, six people in East Africa agreed to start an experiment working with their own land and communities to test ways to restore environmental health and be rewarded for doing so, in both market and non-financial returns. The experiment is called the Barbets Duet and brings together seven learning sites: five in East Africa, one in the UK and one in the USA. All sites are self-financing and all are drawing on the knowledge of both African and Western societies, including the use of different property rights. The project is named after a species of woodpecker that sings together, creating one voice.
On December 10, at 6.30pm, Barbara Heinzen will be joined at the Free Word Centre by two Barbets Duet colleagues: James Magode Ikuya from Uganda and Chris Jones from Cornwall. . . more information and booking for this unique talk http://www.freewordonline.com/events/detail/we-just-begin
