Your Invitation: Please join us for our free annual AMED Writers' Group (AWG) review via Zoom of 2020. Here, we can share our writing challenges, celebrations and interests arising from this strange pandemic episode. We can also begin to anticipate our respective writing projects and enthusiasms for 2021.
Our process: As a community of writing and reading practice, our review includes (optionally) sharing your favourite Words of an Unprecedented Year, e.g.from Oxford Dictionaries or from your own list, which for you epitomise a prevalent ethos, mood, or development in 2020.
In any case, please bring along some favourite writing (your own or someone else's) to share in pairs or small groups in a 'Private Passions' session. You might bring an artefact, a recording, an account of an experience - anything that in some respect involves writing! We'll also be looking forward to our 2021 writing year, and I'll be reporting on ideas and suggestions that we've received for forthcoming AWG sessions and themes of AMED's journal e-Organisations and People, and inviting your comments and suggestions.
This typically open and informal gathering is a wonderful opportunity to meet old and new friends who are interested in writing, reading, listening, conversations, diversity, solidarity and conviviality in any form.
Everyone is welcome, so please feel free to spread the word.
Would you like to offer a session in our unfolding AWG programme? Or would you like to suggest someone else? If so, please get in touch with me to discuss possibilities.
Normally (!), we meet after lunch on the 3rd Friday of every even-numbered month, with a longer themed writing-related workshop around late May, when Spring should have sprung. With the advent of Zoom-mediated sessions, we can, of course, afford to be more flexible in scheduling if necessary, though it’s good to maintain a certain rhythm in our writing year wherever possible. At some point, we hope to be in a position to create a hybrid or dual virtual/in-person AWG programme. So watch this space.
RSVP: If you can, please indicate your intentions by 2 pm on Thursday 17 December (earlier if possible) in the RSVP panel on the right-hand side of this Events web page, or via e-mail. Please note that we publicise AWG events on several different platforms. So the responses you see on this web page do not necessarily represent everyone who is coming. A day or so beforehand, I’ll then send you a link to join our Zoom meeting.
Seasonal greetings. Bob email@example.com
