Do you find yourself as a writer …
• Criticising your own writing before you even put a word down on the page?
• Overly worrying about what others will think about what you write?
• Dismissing compliments from others, and only focussing on mistakes?
• Suffering from the ‘tyranny of perfectionism’?
In 2008 my first book, ‘Master Your Inner Critic, Release Your Inner Wisdom’ was published. Having been plagued by my inner critic most of my life, I learned and created simple techniques to master it. This made such a difference to my life in terms of my enjoyment, happiness and contentment that I decided to write a book to share the ideas with others. I have been a member of the AMED Writers Group almost from the beginning, and I’m excited to have an opportunity to share some of the techniques with my fellow members.
During this session, we will use some of the key exercises from my book to help you master your inner critic. The session will be interactive, with individual, paired and group work.
What to bring
In preparation for this session, you might like to think about:
• When your inner critic kicks in, what situations trigger it?
• What would be the benefits to you, your writing and to others, if you mastered your inner critic?
I am a Chartered Occupational Psychologist, NLP Master Practitioner, and I set up my own training and coaching consultancy Inspire Transformation in 1991 (www.inspiretransformation.co.uk). Since 2006 I have been writing a free coaching newsletter, Inspire, which covers a different topic each month, providing hints, tips and inspiration. You can read the back issues and subscribe to it on my website.
Cost (payable on arrival) - Full AMED Members: £10; Networkers and Guests: £12.50
You are welcome to bring your own lunch. Tea, coffee and water will be served.
And afterwards – the large round table has been reserved for our exclusive use in the Ship Inn, just across the Kennington Road from Roots and Shoots.
Please get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions, or if you have ideas for a future AWG session.
Best wishes. Bob firstname.lastname@example.org
