Event Description

Your invitation
Welcome to this fascinating session, informed by the ideas of Ira Progoff (1992), to experience the potential of reflective writing for personal development.

John writes:

‘What makes the Intensive Journal Workshops appealing?

The thing you notice most about every Intensive Journal workshop you attend is the atmosphere created by a group of people working together, each person intent on their own individual life and works. All work is done in private. This constitutes an unusual but beneficial combination of individual work within a group setting. Here, we can appreciate all aspects of the cycles of our lives without prejudging anything. This quiet, facilitated environment enables us to unwind from everyday events and take the opportunity to explore our lives in this protected space.’

Normally, this process happens over time through a series of workshops which take 12 hours each. However, today, in a space of just three hours, we have an opportunity to ‘taste’ the Intensive Journal Method. John will take you through the process of using your own Intensive Journal, explaining how and why you might find this useful to aid reflection. Thus you should at least get a feel for writing in the Journal.  We'll end with a debriefing and interactive feedback session.

Book early to be sure of your place
The number of participants is limited by the space available for comfortable writing. So do book as soon as you can.

What to bring
No specific preparation is required. You bring your life with you, a pen and some paper to write on and a loose-leaf binder to put it in. You will get to know what aspects to record and exercises to carry out under John's guidance. Intensive Journal Handout
