Event Description

A FREE EVENT @ Warwick University

 About the workshop

The aim of this workshop is to explore what we mean by reflective writing, and to provide an opportunity for participants to:

1) Write a number of pieces of reflective writing
2) Consider how they might use reflective writing for their own and their clients’ personal development in one-to-one or group settings
3) Discuss practical aspects in using reflective writing effectively and ethically.

We invite you to bring along with you a piece of your own reflective writing that you’d be prepared to share in confidence with a few other participants.

Cost (FREE!)

Thanks to our facilitators, on this occasion Warwick University have generously offered our venue and refreshments at no charge. There is therefore no participation fee, and the only expense for participants will be their own travel costs.

The number of places is limited, and we’ll allocate them on a first come, first served basis. So do register your interest as soon as possible to me. We’ll then confirm your place, and keep a reserve list in case any places become free subsequently.

About our facilitators

Jeannie Wright is Director of Counselling and Psychotherapy programmes at Warwick University. Jeannie is co-author with Gillie Bolton of Reflective Writing in Counselling and Psychotherapy, SAGE Publications, 2012, which is reviewed by Bob Thomson in the Winter 2012 edition of e-Organisations and People.

Bob Thomson is a coach and facilitator at the University of Warwick, and was previously Leadership Development Manager at National Grid Transco. Bob has a small private practice in coaching, supervision and mediation, and has written four books on learning and development and coaching – see www.bobthomsoncoaching.com

Venue and travel directions

Our venue is the Seminar Room on the Ground Floor of University House, CV4 8UW (Building 65, coordinate E2 on the location website's downloadable map).

By Rail (the nearest mainline station is Coventry)

15 minutes by taxi from Coventry railway station, or take the National Express Coventry 12 bus from the Warwick Road (follow signs from the station).

There is free visitor car parking in front of the building in car park number 17 on the map.  Participants just need to collect a sticker from Reception and place it on their windscreen.

All workshops in this series are highly stimulating and participatory, and we look forward to exchanging experiences and insights with you on 17 May 2013.

Best wishes. Bob MacKenzie
