I'd be interested in Beth's ideas, perhaps as a future meeting. I have experience too of publish-on-demand, and would like to know more about the viral marketing aspects.

I'm not sure about the need for SMART goals - an informal learning network needs to have communication channels and for there to be sharing of experiences and reflections. Does the network need SMART goals, apart from those set by the people organis…

What makes a network successful?

I've been studying more and less successful networks to identify what works well. We discussed this topic at the recent St Albans AMED gathering. And these seem to be some of the characteristics:

What is OD? Defining the practice and profession of Organisational Development

There was a fascinating discussion during the first meeting of the St Albans AMED group about what connected us as OD practitioners. For one thing, we mostly didn't call ourselves OD practitioners, but felt we might be thought of in that way from time to time.

When we discussed what OD was, I certainly recognised some of the practices.

It was said:

When organisations have complex, intangible problems that are difficult to articulate, those problems belong to OD.

You are in OD if:
• You find… Continue

Hi Paul, Thanks for the welcome. Good to 'see' you again. I really stumbled across this site my accident, but already I have made a couple of interesting connections. I am toying with coming to the St Alban's group on the 25th. It is a long way from Bristol, but I am free on that day (at the moment). Do you think it would be worth it?

Hi Paul, I love your book The Solutions Focus and enjoyed the workshop with Mark McKergow in early 2002. Was in The Netherlands at the time.

Am flattered you think my corres with Ned about complexity theory etc might be of wider interest. Would be delighted to share. As technophobe neophyte not quite sure how to go about your suggestions (or what they mean). As my 17 year old not speaking to me right now would be grateful for any assistance.

Am pleased to find another AMED member in ST ALbans. Are there any more? AMED used to have local groups but when I looked recently for a nearby one to join I couldn't find one.

Are you going to the AGM? I am.

Hi, Paul. Well done with the videos. I meant to get some at our session in Aberdeen last week but forgot. Ideally, they might give a little more: one of the jokes Tony mentions or one of the tips valued by Amer and Belina. Otherwise, why should I trust them?
