(an opportunity for AMED members)

In the early 1990s a small group of experienced management consultants met a number of times in a City pub to discuss how to “give back” to society.  In a variety of ways they had all found that consulting had given them an interesting and challenging professional life but now they wanted to use this experience in parts of society which had an obvious need of consulting help but no means of securing it.  (To read more and find out what this opportunity is, follow this link...AMED\WCoMC membership (3).doc)

 WEDNESDAY 5TH DECEMBER 2007 - 6.00pm for 6.30pm start

 Roger Wythe

What do people do when they don’t know what to do? They ask themselves questions and the resourceful share those questions with people who may be able to help.  From the resulting dialogue, the issue may be more tightly focused, different perspectives will be gained and insights into possible solutions will emerge.

From such mainsprings both Action Learning and Self-Managed Learning have been developed as strategies for supporting the development of managers (and others!).   Both are well established and used to support  managers and organisation grappling with intractable issues and the need to change.

This session will provide an insight into both approaches and a chance to share experiences.  Most importantly, it will give you an opportunity to experience the process of a learning set even if for a very short time!

Roger Wythe has had recent experience of using learning set approaches as a means of supporting managers in a variety of settings.  He has also been part of a learning set of managers and consultants that came from a previous Learning Matters session so it could happen again if you want that experience!

This session will support your Continuing Professional Development by providing you with:

o       Insight and experience of two development strategies

o       The opportunity to participate in an on-going developmental experience

Venue: All England Room, National Badminton Centre, Bradwell Road, Loughton Lodge, Milton Keynes.

ORGANISATIONS & PEOPLE and the SDN

Next Issue of O & P is a special compiled by AMED's Sustainable Development Network (SDN). The collection of seven articles brings together a number of important practical ideas, case studies and actions from international sources that describe successful approaches to organisational and behaviour change in the context of sustainable outcomes.
The SDN is perhaps AMED's longest running special interest group, starting many years ago as the Green Network. If you are interested in joined this lively group, or attending meeting in London, contact Penny Walker at penny.walker@btclick.com
