Hello Lovely AMED Person!

I use TED.com talks as inspiration in my work with people and organisations all the time.  Here are some of my current favourites:

Dan Ariely - some of our 'blindspots' about decision making...some interesting ideas which can be applied to leadership, communication and marketing

http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/dan_ariely_asks_are_we_in_control...

Sir Ken Robinson - great for reminding us how education and academia can kill creativity.  Important context for those of us who work with organisations around being creative.

And...

Elizabeth Gilbert - on a happier healthier way to think about the act and process of being creative.

What are yours and why?

Chimamanda Adichie - on the danger of a "single story" or stereotyping.

Thank you Jacques - beautiful ted talk. Lovely one for many reasons...diversity workshops would be a great context. What other TED talks do you like?

I was just alerted to this one, which is neat!

Some lovely surprises brilliantly summarised. A model of great (short) presentation, as well as nice lessons.

TED is an inspiring place to go. I've shared with my clients and go there just for myself every now and again to get a shot of inspiration. Three favourites are these:

1. Ken Robinson and creativity (link posted by Belina).

2. Emily Levine - a funny, subversive look at a theory of everything (almost). She's an American philosopher-comedian.

3. Dan Gilbert on why are we happy? http://www.ted.com/talks/dan_gilbert_asks_why_are_we_happy.html

Karen Armstrong and Ken Robinson. Both are counter-cultural in their own ways, and are a tonic to listen to because they make so much sense. I like metaphysics and am a great admirer of Karen anyway as she has phenomenal application in the face of all sorts of earlier adversities that nearly broke her; and is so centered
This just came through on twitter: New Economics Foundation talking about their Happy Planet Index:

"nef is at #TEDGlobal! Check out Nic Marks' TED talk about the Happy Planet Index: http://bit.ly/9M0XrV "

Perry Walker (no relation) of the New Economics Foundation is running a working with AMED on 23rd September, on their consensus building technique Crowd Wise. Check that out here: http://www.amed.org.uk/events/crowd-wise-consensus-building
