Greetings from Gower

Just a quick note to tell you that Martin West, Commissioning Editor for Gower Applied Research, will be in Liverpool at the European Academy of Management Conference (EURAM) on 11-14 May 2009. You are very welcome to visit stand 13 to see all our new titles and if you would like to arrange to see Martin to discuss a book project or idea, have a suggestion for a subject, or simply want to find out more about us, please do contact him on mwest@gowerpublishing.com.

Martin’s aspirations for the Gower Applied Research Line
'My aspiration is to publish books that successfully straddle the divide between academic and other business publishing. I am looking for distinctive books written from a scholarly perspective, recognising the vital interaction between theory and practice and between academic and practitioner. As well as offering evidence based challenges to current thinking or received wisdom, our applied research is directed towards uncovering solutions to ‘real world’ problems and to providing curious practitioners with practical guidance and new possibilities. The programme embraces series on Transformation and Innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility, and on Green Economics and Sustainable Growth. For me Gower Applied Research books need to be academically rigorous and relevant to business in the widest sense – the corporate world; small business; entrepreneurship; social enterprise; public sector and not-for-profit. Dealing with the governance, leadership, management and development issues that bear on any part of the ‘business’ world, books for this programme appeal to a wide international audience of academics and practitioners.

If you can’t find what you are looking for – tell me. I am influenced by what you need and your feedback enables me to spot new opportunities and strengthen our range of titles.'

Martin West
