Event Description

Now in its 18th year, the World of Learning Conference & Exhibition will once again attract thousands of learning and development professionals to the NEC in Birmingham on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 September 2010.

The premier event for business learning, the World of Learning will feature an exhibition with more than 100 local and international exhibitors, and a major conference that boasts first-class speakers from all over the world.

The exhibition will include companies from all sectors of the learning and development industry, from e-learning and HR and learning management solutions, to social media and instructor-led training. Major organisations exhibiting include Blue Beetle, e2train, Thales Training & Consultancy, Centre for High Performance Development, Kaplan IT Learning, Impact International, Huthwaite International, etc.venues, Results Driven Group, LearningGuide Solutions and Assima (DACG).

All aspects of the event are designed to enhance the skills of learning and development professionals and equip them to deal with the challenges of today’s business environment. The renowned conference, which attracts sell-out crowds, will tackle the issues of key concern to L&D professionals, from employee engagement, change management and management and leadership development to enhancing business performance, informal learning, coaching and proving the benefit of learning activities. Speakers include Ruth Spellman OBE, Chief Executive of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), Jayne Stokes, Head of Learning at Santander, and Mike Booth, Learning Technologies Manager at Cable&Wireless Worldwide.

Additional free features within the exhibition include the ever-popular seminar programme, interactive workshops, Experiential Learning Zone, the Professional Development Zone, skill workshops, product demonstrations, Workplace Wellness Zone and the Business & Networking Lounge. An International Zone and Social Learning Zone will also be launched at this year’s event, and will offer insight into the evolving world of L&D.

“This is a critical time for L&D professionals; the recession has driven all organisations to analyse every aspect of spend and performance, which is having a radical impact on the activities of L&D and HR. The World of Learning Conference & Exhibition reflects the current state and future direction of the industry and is therefore an essential date in the diary for all those involved in developing their staff.

“A visit to the event will enable them to ensure they’re at the forefront of market developments, utilising the latest methods and working with the most cost-effective solutions available,” said Andrew Gee, Senior Project Manager for the World of Learning.

The World of Learning 2010 is held in association with the British Institute for Learning & Development and is supported by the following associations and industry titles: Personnel Today, HR Magazine, TrainingZone.co.uk, European Institute for e-Learning, PersonnelZone.com, Learning Magazine; with Government Business and Government Technology as public sector media supporters. Once again this year the World of Learning Conference is a CPD-certified event, providing delegates with a CPD Certificate of Attendance.

‘Very useful, made me reconsider my approach when dealing with communities’Brian Dunne (Scottish Natural Heritage) ‘Extremely helpful to go through the whole process of facilitation’Ruth Campbell (Waste Aware Scotland) ‘Lots of meaty content - very engaging!’The Eden Project The need for good local engagement is becoming ever more important as work develops around empowerment and the ‘Big Society’. The CourseThis interactive course will look closely at the roles a facilitator may play and how and when a facilitator’s role may link in to work on longer term community development.
