'This will take place in Irene
MacWilliam's house, Southampton, on Friday 7 April, from
11 am - 2.45 pm, including a light lunch (we all
contribute something, usually in kind). At the time of
writing, three people have definitely asked for some space:
Melanie, who's written a Buddhist-influenced book 'Mastering
Your Inner Critic – Releasing Your Inner Wisdom – which
(in Melanie's words) 'is now completed and looking for a
publisher!!'; Irene, who's about to take a six-month sabbatical
in Berlin to write amongst other things about hidden conflict in
organisations; and me, who doesn't yet quite know what he's
going to write/talk about yet, but it will possibly be something
about giving myself permission to write about writing as a
facilitative intervention. So there's still plenty of space
for you if you'd like to come along.
The agenda is always open and
emergent, although some people sometimes come (as Irene on this
occasion) with a specific theme that they'd like to discuss.
We generally do a little catch-up, a quick round of
agenda-building, then we each have a dedicated slot based upon
equitable sharing of time, finishing with an agreement of when
and where we're going to meet next (roughly at two-monthly
intervals, interspersed with the occasional event). It's very
informal and supportive - a fine example of 'critical
friendship' in my view, revolving around a general interest in
writing for personal, professional or creative development.
Perhaps you could let me
know by Tuesday at the latest whether or not you'd like
to come, and I can then give you directions etc?
