SUMMARY:Collaborative Advantage – Interdependence and cooperation ac
 ross traditional boundaries
DESCRIPTION:Organisations define and redefine themselves in response t
o new demands and opportunities that emerge from changing conditions.
The popular use of outsourcing, for instance, is a familiar strategy o
ften driven by twin demands to cut costs and improve delivery. Public
and private enterprise now faces more complex systemic demands, which
challenge us to organise and cooperate across traditional boundaries.\
n\nNew research demonstrates how collaborative inquiry can be a source
of innovative thinking that improves both understanding and action. A
t the same time, a collaborative approach has some significant implica
tions in relation to our understanding of what good leadership and cha
nge agency looks like.\n\nThe session will be led by Mike Jones. Mike
is Director of Learning and Leadership at Open Minds – a consultancy
and think tank specialising in organisation, community and economic d
evelopment. Mike has extensive cross-sector experience in leadership,
cultural change and organisational transformation. He recently led a r
esearch project on collaboration, working with an advisory group of se
nior leaders from both the public and private sector. Over the past te
n years Mike has pioneered the practical application of complexity sci
ence in organisations - particularly in the context of strategy, leade
rship and sustainability.\n\nThe main session begins at 6.30pm and wil
l end around 8.15 pm. It will then be followed by a buffet reception w
here you will have the opportunity to meet the speakers, as well as sh
are experiences and network with fellow delegates.\n\nFor further info
rmation about this and all the workshops in the series and to book a p
 lace, please visit Cass's website.\n\nThe event costs £30 (£20 for s
tudents, academics and those form the not-for-profit sector).\n\nFor m
